French 1 Map Project: Giving Directions

We are learning how to give directions in French!  This unit will have several parts:

1.  With a partner, design a map of a French city.  Include TEN of the places around town we have been studying , labeled in French. Example:  bibliotheque, piscine, cafe, etc.  Must have at least 8 streets, one monument, and one traffic circle. Number SIX of the places 1-6, make sure they are spread out around your map.  Be creative!  Fill your space - you can include more places as you need to.
3.  We will use the maps in class to practice giving directions:
Put your hot wheels car in your traffic circle.
Roll the dice.
"Drive" your car to the number destination your rolled, telling your partner in French how to get there.
Your partner starts from that location and rolls to take a turn.
Continue taking turns until time is called.
When time is called, we will switch maps with another group.  You need to practice with lots of different maps!
Alternate drill:
roll the dice, tell your partner how to get to the location and your PARTNER moves the hot wheel car per your directions.  Get it right or your partner falls off the map!
4.  You will have a speaking assessment in class with your teacher - using a map of the teacher's choosing, you will roll the dice THREE times and tell how to get to those places in French.

Bonne Chance!
